It’s been a while since I’ve been to Thailand. The service is excellent!
It’s been a while since I traveled abroad due to COVID! After a few years, I’m in Thailand! Since I’m normally working a lot, I thought it would be a great time for some escapism and a little luxury for my newly turned 30-year-old self, so I was looking for a slightly nicer hotel. I was a bit worried about reviews stating it was a little far from BTS, but they provide a free tuk-tuk shuttle until around 9:50 PM. It’s about a 10-minute walk, so for Japanese people who walk often, it might not feel that far. In any case, I think I’d probably take a taxi when I have a suitcase, so honestly, I don’t think it’s a big deal. (From the taxi stand at Suvarnabhumi Airport to the hotel, I had to deal with price negotiation, so I just accepted the driver’s rate which was 300 baht, around 1,200 yen as 1 baht is about 4 yen.
Excellent Stay with Exceptional Service
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit 55! I was treated with the utmost professionalism and top-notch friendly staff from the minute I arrived until the very last moment. The staff were always around with a smile and a ready attitude to assist and help you, which just elevate the staying experience. It is not just 1 or 2 of the staff but all the staff i interacted with, from the staff at the check-in counter, the morning breakfast crew, the shuttle bus and the room service. They were all amazing! Kudos to them for the service they provided. Allow me to recount 2 incident, I arrived late night and when I took a shower i realized that the water wasn’t draining fast enough causing the shower area to flood even if the shower was only 5 mins.

Ascott Thonglor Bangkok
Hotel Services
At Ascott Thonglor Bangkok, the service truly made me feel deeply respected and utterly cared for. From the moment I arrived, the staff were genuinely attentive and friendly, often going out of their way to offer thoughtful details like complimentary welcome snacks or even a birthday cake for celebrations—these little things truly matter and leave a lasting impression. Their readiness to accommodate requests, such as early check-in or late check-out when possible, speaks volumes about their dedication to guest comfort. While most interactions were wonderfully smooth, a few guests have noted instances of slow room service or some pool staff being less attentive, and occasionally, the breakfast staff felt a touch overattentive, yet these were minor ripples in an otherwise gracious experience.
Room Information
Stepping into my room at the Ascott Thonglor Bangkok, I immediately felt a sense of spaciousness and home-like comfort—it truly felt like a haven. The inclusion of a kitchenette and a washing machine provided a practical luxury that made longer stays feel effortless, and the Japanese-style washlet toilets in the bathroom, along with a full range of toiletries, were thoughtful touches that elevated the experience. Many rooms here offer great views of Bangkok, painting a beautiful backdrop to my mornings and evenings. However, some guests have mentioned that AC units can be loud or temperature control inconsistent, and occasional noise from neighbors or cooking smells were noted. A few also found the beds rather firm, and some experienced slow draining sinks or minor bathroom flooding, which are small considerations for future stays.

Dining Experience
The dining options at Ascott Thonglor Bangkok offered a convenient and inviting experience, especially with the 24-hour room service and the on-site restaurant serving a blend of international and local cuisines. I found the breakfast buffet to be a pleasant start to my day, with a continental spread that offered a variety of choices. The Japanese restaurant, Kinki, located right next to the lobby, provided a distinct culinary option. While many appreciated the convenience, some guests felt the breakfast options were a bit limited or the food quality merely mediocre, occasionally leading to queues in the mornings. Additionally, there were mentions of the breakfast restaurant’s AC not always functioning optimally, and some guests desired more intercontinental cuisine options, particularly for infants.

Absolutely recommended
This place is a real 10. Amazing service from the staff. It has everything you need for a short stay: small kitchenette, washing machine, a TV, fridge. Complimentary welcome snacks are included on the day of arrival. The bathroom has both a bath as well as a shower. The Japanese style washlet toilets were comfy too.
Like the place but do not buy their breakfast with your stay
There’s a queue every morning at the breakfast restaurant which makes you wait around 10 to 20 mins and the food is meh to be honest and it takes them awhile to replenish the coffee, and other foods available. Save your money, go around thonglor to eat breakfast. Cleaning lady forgot to make up the room and we had to call house keeping to bring towels and water to make milk for our baby. Even then they gave only 2 bottles instead of 4. So I had to go to 7E to get some more. Over all not a bad place, also washing mashine/dryer doesn’t dry your clothes well.

Hotel Nikko Bangkok
Hotel Services
Hotel Nikko Bangkok truly excels in delivering a personal touch, making every guest feel genuinely welcomed and seen. From the warm smiles that greeted me upon arrival to the gracious assistance throughout my departure, the staff’s politeness and attentiveness were consistently remarkable. It was the little things that mattered most—like the concierge team remembering a previous order or anticipating a need—that truly made me feel cared for, transforming a simple stay into a memorable experience. Their dedication to ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out, alongside services like daily housekeeping and laundry, showcased a commitment to guest comfort. While the service was largely exceptional, one guest did mention an isolated instance of a management lady seeming to ignore their table at breakfast, which felt a little out of character for the otherwise stellar team.
Room Information
My room at Hotel Nikko Bangkok was a lovely blend of comfort and refined elegance, a quiet sanctuary in the bustling city of Bangkok. The modern aesthetics paired beautifully with the plush bedding, inviting me to relax and unwind completely. Having a flat-screen TV and a well-stocked mini-bar added to the ease of my stay, and the private bathroom, often featuring Japanese-style toilets and separate bathtubs and showers, felt like a luxurious touch. Many guests, myself included, praised the cleanliness and spaciousness that made the room feel so inviting. However, some guests have noted that the beds might feel a little smaller than expected, possibly adhering to Japanese standards, and there were occasional mentions of air conditioning issues or inconsistent Wi-Fi connectivity, which are small details to keep in mind.

The dining options at Hotel Nikko Bangkok provided a delightful journey for the palate, offering a range of choices that felt both familiar and exciting. The breakfast buffet was a thoughtful spread, featuring both local delicacies and international dishes, ensuring a satisfying start to each day. I particularly enjoyed the cozy coffee shop, a perfect spot for a quiet moment with a pastry and a warm drink. For those seeking more, the grilled meat restaurant, Ginzadou, conveniently located across the hotel entrance, offered another enticing option. While many praised the variety and freshness of the breakfast, especially the Japanese selections, some guests found the Western options to be somewhat limited, leading to mixed reviews on the overall breakfast experience.

One of a kind. Highly recommended
There is no such hotel as a hotel without flaws. I believe that what it comes down to are how well the hotel manages the compromises that will make “One size fit all” and the attention to detail, both in hotel and room design and in the daily management. At the Nikko Hotel, the customer service I encountered was great. The hotel has an incredible functional design, while stil being aesthetically pleasing. For an experienced traveller, it was one happy discovery after the other.
