Very good
The hotel smells fresh from the entrance itself which obviously extends to the room’s overall cleanliness. Greeted by a welcoming male front desk agent and pro-active bellman when we checked-in. One engineering technician was so helpful (unfortunately I could not recall his name). He helped me retrieve my ATM card that fell down the lift’s shaft when I pulled my room key card from my wallet. Nice view from the room and even from the restaurant where breakfast is being served.

After reading all the reviews I was a little hesitate to book this hotel. I decided to give it a chance. I stayed there 8 days, and believe me this was really a wonderful stay. From receptionist, housekeeping, room service guy, security. Everyone were so helpful, very polite, very kind.

This is my first visit to Qatar, and I am taking back very good memories. 1. Location 1) Subway – The red and yellow subway lines are about a 10-minute walk away, making public transportation easy. The subway system is very well organized. 2) Souq Waqif – It’s about a 5-minute walk away, so I went for a walk there almost every day during my stay. 3) Old Doha Port / Islamic Museum / Qatar National Museum – It’s nice for a walk within a 30-minute to 1-hour range.
Huge comfy room near Souq Waqif
We had a short layover in Qatar and wanted a place to quickly shower and explore the city. The Royal Qatar hotel was the best option for its location, price, and room space. We were greeted warmly, check in was smooth. We were sent up to the room. The bellboy explained how the room was laid out.

Good value
Location and big room My recent stay at hotel was unfortunately marred by a few issues. Upon arrival, we discovered a cockroach in the wardrobe of our assigned room. While the initial reception staff was apologetic and offered a room upgrade, this offer was rescinded by a subsequent employee, which was disappointing. Furthermore, during breakfast the following morning, we observed both a cockroach and another insect in the dining area. After alerting the reception, we were thankfully able to cancel the remainder of our breakfast reservation and received a refund.
Summary of my trip
I arrived in afternoon and I tried getting to the parking and there was no one to guide. I had to go around and it took me 20 minutes again to get to the hotel parking. The parking is a mess itself. Then again it took me an hour to check in. The staff was slow, but helpful too.

Good for female solo travellers
The hotel is well located near the main attractions in Doha from where you can walk if the weather allows it, take taxi or reach the Msheireb metro station in 10 min to move around. People complained to be in a dodgy area that feels unsafe at night because of the construction workers, who are mostly immigrants from Bangladesh or Pakistan, but that’s nonsense. As a female solo traveller, I walked at night to the nearby grocery stores and yes, you see a lot of men in their breaks from work on the streets, but they never approached me, so no reason to fear, just take precautions like not walking in too dark or isolated areas and you’ll be fine. You can also get a few groceries at the store of the gas station in front of the hotel. The staff were also cool, particularly Pauline and the Algerian trainee at the reception, and the Kenyan lady lifeguard at the pool (apologies I don’t remember all your names!).

the staff were cooperative, responsive and kind, the facilities from parking and gym and pool and wifi was great, the location is superb with plenty of touristic spots very near and also amenities like markets and pharmacies and whatnot also very near. And what we got for the price was pretty amazing, would definitely come back again! Minor comments but not even close to being deal breakers. We got two rooms, one room didn’t have a view, was covered by the neighboring building, the other did have a view, but we would’ve appreciated a higher floor and better views. The breakfast food had nice selections, but would’ve appreciated quicker/more replenishing of the main courses in the chafing or buffet containers so that they aren’t found empty or nearly empty when we check them to fill our plates. And the bathroom shower was clogged when we first used it, it isn’t a maintenance issue, just a routine cleaning thing, so I opened the drain and cleaned it up myself and was pretty easy and quick to do so, but would’ve appreciated them taking care of it before I had to.
TOTALLY RECOMMEND
The location of the hotel is super nice and quite yet nearby two or more restaurants and supermarkets , minutes walk to souq waqif, Corniche (sea), museum, old port and a park. The hotel it’s self is clean, organized and comfy. The room is really nice, spacious and clean. House keeping comes daily and cleans everything, sometimes you have to call and ask for missing tissues or more towels, but it’s okay they bring it immediately. The staff are super friendly and helpful, also the check in and check out were finished smoothly.
