Absolute Gem!
We have had a wonderful stay @ Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Tokyo-Shiodome! When the S. RIDE driver dropped us off; we could not believe we had reached the hotel. Located within a commercial building (Shiodome Sumitomo Building), the hotel frontage is not too visible from the outside. But once inside, whoa, this exquisite property sure has an extraordinarily high ceiling and impressively grand foyer…guests literally make a grand entrance upon walking through those doors! Check-in is quick and seamless; and concierge wastes no time to have our bags sent to our rooms. Hotel rooms in Japan are expectedly small but ours on L10 are well-appointed, sufficient to fit a queen bed, a sofa and two luggage.

I originally wanted to book the nearby Royal Park Hotel Iconic Tokyo Shiodome; I stayed there when I visited Tokyo two years ago and had a great experience. However, since I only made the reservation in January, the room I wanted was not available, so I ended up booking this hotel instead. To get to the point, this hotel is a five-minute walk further from Shimbashi Station, but I think it’s okay because there is a footbridge connecting to Shimbashi Station right outside the hotel platform, taking about ten minutes to walk over. Nearby, there are my favorite Ichiran Ramen and Donki, both about a ten-minute walk towards Ginza, so being hungry at night is definitely not a problem. Check-in went very smoothly and I was in my room in under five minutes.

Strategically located, clean and friendly hotel staff
As per the review title, this hotel is strategically located in Ginza and direct access to three different convenient stores within 1 minute walk. Two staircase entrances to Ginza-Itchome Station are also within 1 minute walk for the Yurakucho Line. You can even do a last minute shopping on the medical items and basic selections of snacks directly in front of the hotel main entrance which opens until 9pm ish. The housekeeping service was great and friendly. We asked to borrow a vacuum cleaner to compress our clothing and first thing in the morning the vacuum cleaner was placed in front of our room.

Ginza is a convenient area when you have to use various regions and lines to go to the airport or around the city. The Daiwa Hotel is a bit far from Ginza Station, but for those who need to use multiple lines, it was actually more comfortable and better to not go through the busy and crowded Ginza Station. The nearby Kyobashi Station is about 1-2 minutes closer to Ginza Station and similar in distance. The Hibiya Line Higashi-Ginza Station is also accessible and nice to walk to in a quiet alley. Additionally, the Asakusa Line Takara-cho Station is within a 5-6 minute walk, so if you want to go to Narita Airport conveniently in one shot, you can take the Asakusa Line directly (not the Skyliner, but a regular subway access express airport service).

Overall great, but quite firm bed
We stayed in the Jr Suite and the room was overall good and spacious, it was very quiet and had quite a good view of the city and Tokyo Tower. The location was quite good as well – there wasn’t much in the immediate (1-2 block) area, however it was very close to two metro stations that covered all our needs, and quite close to the lively Izakaya district of Shimbashi. Also an easy walk to Ginza, Tsukiji, and Hamarikyu Gardens. The bathroom was the standout part of the room – it had a separate toilet cubical inside the larger bathroom with real/solid doors on both the cubical and the larger bathroom, and had a very nice shower and good lighting. They also provided pajamas and slippers which was unexpected and actually really nice for lounging.

We stayed for 3 nights in a junior suite twin room. Compared to the usually small hotel rooms in Tokyo, this one was spacious enough for 3 people, and the bathroom was also large, with the toilet, bathtub, and sink separated into different spaces, which was convenient. The room itself felt like it had been thoughtfully designed in every aspect. There were power outlets by each bed for easy phone charging, and there were power outlets located throughout the room. It was equipped with two large chairs, two desk chairs, and two vanity chairs, providing ample seating.

Location, location, location.
I stayed from 22 to 28 Nov 2023. The best thing about this hotel is how close you are to a train station; Higashi-ginza on the Hibiya line. Not only that, it’s also the ease of getting to and from that station. I just checked on Google maps: it’s only 25 metres from the lift door to the hotel’s front door! As travellers, we have luggage and stairs are our worst enemy. But in Tokyo, train stations are full of stairs! It’s even worse when you’re going home with shopping or if you’re not young anymore. As for the room, it was clean.
Great location and professional staff/service, with comfortable (albeit small) rooms.
This is the only Tokyo hotel that I’ve decided to stay at a second time as the location is unbeatable. The subway exits are near (Higashi Ginza station exit just steps away and Ginza station exit is less than 5 minutes walk away) and that’s very important on rainy/cold days. Room is small as per Tokyo standard, but very well laid out with all that you need in it. It’s clean and comfortable, and the staff are polite and professional. Many eateries and restaurants and convenience stores, and even a supermarket nearby.

1. The overall front desk service is very patient, and there is a female employee named “Hayashi” who speaks fluent Chinese, which is great. During our stay, the three female front desk staff and one male staff member were also very good. 2. The guest rooms are indeed small, as the location in Ginza is very expensive, which is understandable. The room cleaning facilities are excellent and very eco-friendly, and there are self-service ice machines and vending machines on each floor. The staff on the floor have accents that sound like Thai or Indian, and their service is very good.

Great location
Location of the hotel was perfect for us as it’s only a minute walk to Hatchobori station (metro) just across the road. Very convenient as we used the metro lines a lot with the 72 hour pass (unlimited) for ¥1500 which is great savings! A bit of a walk from the Tokyo station ~ 20 min. for the train lines. We were booked in a triple room with 2 double beds and a single bed (no sofa with triple room) so few weeks before our arrival I asked if we can have the twin room with the sofa instead of the triple room as my husband and I can sleep in one of the double beds and my daughter can sleep in the other double bed, then at least we’ve got a sofa to sit on but they’ve refused. They said because our daughter is 14, we need to be in a triple room (2 double beds and a single bed) so we ended up having 1 double bed spare which could have been an extra space for something else! We booked buffet breakfast with our stay which was ok, japanese and western but limited selection for the price (¥1800+ pp).
To put it briefly, I am very satisfied.
1. First of all, in terms of location, it is a bit far from Tokyo Station (about a 10-minute walk), but it is very convenient for visiting Disneyland or shopping in Ginza. There is a Hachikōbōri Station right in front of the hotel, making it very convenient as you can get there directly without transferring. 2. Staff Response I reserved a 2-night stay here, and although there were no staff members who spoke Korean, they easily explained everything in English, so I had no inconvenience at all. They explained the room transfer for the next day easily, and they also moved the luggage I left at the front desk to my room in the morning, which was very convenient. 3. Accommodation Facilities and Amenities Firstly, the breakfast is incredibly delicious.

A 3-star Hotel that offered 4-star Service
Pros – The room was exceptionally new and clean. I could not find a single dust on any surfaces. – The bathroom was separated from the toilet which is a big plus. The spacious bathroom came with a bathtub, a shower, a shower chair, a water scoop, anti-slip floor, and most importantly, a tap with temperature control. You can take some bath salt for from the reception after a day of exhausting shopping in Tokyo! – The humidifier saved my dry-as-hell skin after a long haul.

Good stay
This is my 2nd time staying at this hotel and the experience was good! Transportation wise, if you’re coming from the subway, we went through the Ginza Line, getting off at Kyobashi Station. Exit 2 has an elevator for those with luggage. Ginza-itchome Station is also near but the one closest I believe has no elevator. It’s a 10-minute walk to major shops at Ginza. There’s 2 Family Marts within short walking distance and a Natural Lawson for more health-conscious individuals.
