Le Mount Stephen
Hotel Services
From the moment I stepped into Le Mount Stephen, the gracious welcome from the staff left a lasting impression. Their impeccable service felt truly personal, making me feel known rather than just a guest. The concierge team, in particular, was attentive without hovering, offering insightful recommendations for Montreal’s vibrant scene and handling every request with thoughtful details—whether it was arranging transportation or securing a dinner reservation. It was those little things that matter, like the attentiveness of the valet and the seamless express check-in, that truly elevated my experience. Daily housekeeping and laundry services made my stay feel effortlessly comfortable, a quiet testament to their dedication to care.
Room Information
Stepping into my room at Le Mount Stephen, I was met with a sense of quiet luxury. The comfortable beds promised restful nights, and I appreciated the spaciousness of options like the Deluxe King or Junior Suite. Some rooms even offered a fireplace, which created such a cozy ambiance, perfect for unwinding after a day exploring Montreal. While the modern amenities, including automated lighting and shade controls, were impressively convenient, I did notice that some rooms, including mine, had smaller windows that limited the natural light and views. A few guests have also mentioned that the decor, while sleek, could feel a touch cool or sterile, lacking some of the warmth I often seek in a personal retreat.

Dining Experience
Dining at Le Mount Stephen was an experience in itself, with the exquisite on-site restaurant presenting delectable dishes crafted from fine ingredients. Mornings offered gourmet breakfast spreads, and evenings provided sumptuous dinner options that beautifully showcased both local and international flavors. My visits to Bar George weren’t just for cocktails; the quality of the food and its inviting ambiance made it a delightful dining spot. For those quiet evenings in, the room service menu offered a wide selection, ensuring comfort was just a call away. While some guests have mentioned finding the breakfast to be a bit average or the dinner prices on the higher side, the hotel’s location also places it wonderfully close to diverse culinary delights like Pizza Il Focolaio and Reuben’s Deli & Steakhouse, offering plenty of options just steps away.

Very good
-Friendly and helpful staff -Gorgeous and delicious restaurant -Proximity to metro – High tech bedroom and bathroom -Room windows were a couple of tiny squares the size of my head -Room décor/ vibe was underwhelming compared to the rest of the property -Good location close to the metro. However, if you want to be somewhere more romantic with unique food, I suggest staying in Old Montreal. -Spa: I came to the hotel for a relaxing babymoon. Being 7 months pregnant the last thing I needed to hear from the aesthetician is that my skin is terrible, I look like I haven’t gotten a facial in years, and that my neck and forehead look way too old for my age. Mind you I mentioned I have an aesthetician and really just wanted some relaxing time, I wasn’t looking for a consultation.
Really Nice but a little different than I expected
The staff hospitality and service was excellent and exceeded my expectations. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is in an excellent location with easy access to unlimited shopping and food and a quick taxi ride to old Montreal. The bar and restaurant were beautiful and located in the beautiful historic building that stands in front of the actual hotel. Windows in the rooms are a little odd.

Hotel Birks Montreal
Hotel Services
At Hotel Birks Montreal, the staff’s attentiveness truly made me feel cared for from the moment of my arrival. The check-in process was smooth, and the valet staff were exceptionally helpful and courteous, setting a warm tone for my entire stay. I was genuinely impressed by their professionalism and accommodating nature, especially when they fulfilled a special request I had—it’s those little things that matter, making a guest feel seen. While the overall staff performance garnered high praise, a few guests have noted isolated instances of front desk staff being less friendly or service being a bit slow, and some restaurant interactions were reportedly not as family-friendly as one might hope. Nevertheless, the turn-down and cleaning staff consistently offered gracious and helpful service.

Room Information
My room at Hotel Birks Montreal offered a lovely blend of luxury and comfort, providing a quiet retreat in the heart of the city. I was particularly charmed by the possibility of rooms featuring fireplaces and private terraces, offering serene views of downtown Montreal or the Christ Church Cathedral—a truly special touch. The attention to detail in soundproofing ensured restful sleep, and the bathrooms, with their rainfall showers and quiet toilets, felt like a private spa. While many rooms are spacious and bathed in natural light, with some boasting floor-to-ceiling windows, I did notice that some guest comments indicated certain rooms felt a bit generic or less spacious. A few minor oversights, such as missing coffee cups or tea, and the absence of bathrobes in some rooms, were also mentioned by previous visitors.

Dining Experience
Dining at Hotel Birks Montreal begins with a delightful continental breakfast, a spread of fresh pastries, breads, seasonal fruits, and premium coffees and teas, though it’s worth noting this is not always included in the room price. The Henri Brasserie Française + Lounge offers an exquisite culinary journey for both lunch and dinner, with guests often praising the exceptional service and high quality of the food—it truly is a top-notch restaurant. However, a few guests have mentioned experiencing cold eggs benedict, and on one occasion, the restaurant reportedly did not have fresh bread available in the evening. Beyond the hotel, the vibrant downtown location places one within easy reach of numerous acclaimed restaurants, including Pizza Il Focolaio and Bouillon Bilk, offering a diverse array of culinary experiences.

Very good
Room was gorgeous and my partner absolutely loved it. The only problem I had was at checkout when I had previously paid for my stay at check in on our first night. We stayed 1 night and in the morning I went up to checkout and asked if my luggage could be held until we were ready to head to the airport. There was no problems with the payment at this time and so I continued on my morning thinking everything was fine considering I just paid 996$ for 1 night. It was quite embarrassing to come and collect my baggage and be told there was a issue with the payment and the hotel instead of looking for the transaction receipt which was in a drawer behind them I was told I owed almost 250$ and when I was trying to explain myself I was being looked at like I was lying and this was all in-front of my Partner.

Whether it was arranging airport transfers, handling valet parking, or providing 24-hour room service, every interaction felt personalized and thoughtful. The express check-in and check-out, along with laundry and dry cleaning services, added to the seamless experience. While my personal interactions were flawless, some guests have gently mentioned issues with billing discrepancies or delayed refunds for holds placed on their accounts, which are minor details to consider but did not detract from my overall feeling of being respected and pampered.

The attention to detail, from the elegant design to the walk-in closets, made the space feel incredibly well-appointed. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering everything from pastries and fresh fruits to a variety of hot and cold dishes, ensuring a satisfying start to the day. Comfortable and luxurious
This is a beautiful property, as are all Ritz Carlton locations. the rooms are large and very comfortable. The staff is very attentive. There was no lounge are in the lobby. There really should be a place to sit and relax or talk that’s not in your room.

Excellent
Staff was very friendly and helpful Room was very well appointed and comfortable. Marcus restaurant was great for a splurge dinner. However they need to have another mid price point alternative for breakfast and or lunch. The location is excellent. Lots of options within walking distance.
Luxurious stay in downton Montreal!
We loved the location. Around the corner from Saint Catherine street where you can find lots of shopping and restaurants. The room was luxurious yet cozy. The floor we were on was very quiet. And the scent in the entire building is to die for! Sadly, the spa was out of stock:(.
